If you have been reading this lil’ ol’ blog for a while (Hi Dad!), you may have noticed a few changes around here, and I’m not just talking about the fact that this blog used to be called Running Blonde. I’ve started to occasionally feature a product review or sponsored post from companies or individuals. I also use affiliate links for companies like Amazon, for which I earn a small percentage if you do end up buying something.
I want to be completely open and honest with you about what this means for you, as a reader, and for me, as the head honcho at A Side of Sweet.
I absolutely love blogging, and I love sharing recipes, DIY’s and travel stories with everyone who visits A Side of Sweet. If all of this seems effortless, then I’m doing my job! You shouldn’t have to think about all of of the behind-the-scenes stuff. I just want you to enjoy the content that I produce.
In reality, I spend countless hours and thousands of dollars creating the original content to keep the blog running. What you don’t see when you read a post is hosting fees, project supplies, photography equipment costs, and personnel costs to cover things like hiring a professional photographer.
Offering ads and affiliate links helps to make blogging sustainable. My goal is to at least cover my web hosting costs with a little left over to cover photography and baking supplies I wouldn’t otherwise buy – like a camera lens or a new baking sheet. Every dollar left over goes towards paying off my student loans. Holy moly medical school was expensive!
My promise to you is that I will always let you know when content is sponsored. I want you to know that I will never feature brands that I don’t 100% love and wouldn’t use for myself.
Now for the legal stuff:
The security of your Personal Information is important to us, but remember that no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
A Side of Sweet uses Google Analytics Demographics and Interest Reporting. You can opt-out of Google Analytics for Display Advertising and customize Google Display Network ads using Google’s Ad Settings page. I will never sell, trade or rent your individual information, but I do share aggregated demographic information such as number of visitors, return visitors, Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, and country of origin, with business partners and trusted affiliates from time to time.
I feel so lucky to have people who think my blog is worth reading, and worth coming back to. If you like what you see, I hope you’ll consider supporting my sponsors, and maybe even clicking on the occasional ad now and then so I can keep creating new content!
