We’re officially gearing up for the holidays! Even though they look different this year, one thing is the same – I’ll be running all of my holiday errands at Westlake Shopping Center in Daly City.
Even though we live in San Francisco, Westlake Shopping Center is less than 15 minutes from our house! We actually prefer shopping there because everything is in one place and it’s easy to find parking. They have a huge variety of restaurants and cafes within the shopping center which makes running errands surprisingly enjoyable! I’m much happier crossing things off my To-Do list when I’m well-caffeinated and have a belly full of pastries.
Sheng Kee Bakery
A day at Westlake has to start with a pastry and a cup of coffee at Sheng Kee Bakery. This Taiwanese-based bakery has rows and rows of pastries that will satisfy any craving. You’ll find everything from their famous pineapple pastry to moon cakes and taro cakes. My timing was perfect as I was able to get a warm egg tart just out of the oven! Heaven.
They also have a selection of beautifully decorated cakes if you need something for a special occasion. Everything is individually wrapped for safety.
Home Depot at Westlake Shopping Center
The Home Depot’s Garden Center is a great place to breathe a little life into your holiday celebrations. Potted plants or mini Christmas trees make great hostess gifts or presents for the essential workers around us like postal workers and delivery drivers.
I picked up four of the mini Christmas trees – one for each of our front windows! They will be so cute when I decorate them with fairy lights.
Target Westlake Shopping Center
Target is an obvious stop for holiday gift-giving. It’s so convenient because I can also pick up a few groceries and restock my toiletries at the same time.
These DIY gingerbread house kits immediately caught my eye. Our nephews will love them!
A beautiful scented candle for my mother-in-law? Check!
They also have an entire aisle of quirky holiday accessories if you need something fun to wear for your next Zoom meeting.
I couldn’t resist going home with this incredible Christmas sweater. Isn’t it purrr-fect?
DSW Shoes at Westlake Shopping Center
Just down from Target is DSW Shoes. If you need a new pair of boots for the holidays, this is the place!
Starbucks at Westlake Shopping Center
Make sure you stay hydrated during your shopping adventure! It’s holiday cup season at Starbucks! It’s easy to place an order in the Starbucks app and grab it with contactless pickup at their special pickup window. They also have a great assortment of pastries and light lunches to choose from.
JoAnn Fabrics in Westlake Shopping Center
The obvious place for the crafty gifter is JoAnn Fabrics. Shopping for DIY projects is my favorite and JoAnn Fabrics is the mecca.
I wasn’t sure what I was going to make this year, but I figured I would find inspiration at Joann Fabrics. As the escalator landed, what to my wondering eyes should appear, but rows of beautiful holiday tins! They are the perfect way to make homemade baked goods feel really special. I can’t wait to leave one in the nurses’ lounge for them to enjoy.
As with all the stores at Westlake Shopping Center, Joann Fabrics has strict safety protocols and masks are required. You can also shop online for easy pickup in-store.
By this time, I had really worked up an appetite! Luckily Westlake Shopping Center has restaurants for any mood. I was really craving sushi. We’ve been cooking a lot during the pandemic and sushi is one of those things that is better left to the professionals!
While I was still shopping, I placed an order for Spiral Sushi on their website. 20 minutes later it was ready for pickup. They are even offering a discount if you order online for pickup. It’s the perfect way to get restaurant food while still practicing good social distancing.
The food hit the spot! The sushi was so fresh, and I loved their vegetarian ramen. It was a healthy and colorful lunch, and the perfect way to end my shopping adventure.
With just one stop I ran errands, shopped for holiday gifts, snacked on pastries, and had a delicious lunch, thanks to Westlake Shopping Center! It’s so convenient and they always have everything I need. You can get shopping ideas and be the first to hear about deals by following them on Facebook.
