Rooms at Fairmont Kea Lani Maui
The Fairmont Kea Lani is an all-suite resort. Every room has an ocean view. They also have several two and three bedroom luxury beach villas.
After a small entryway, the room opens up into a huge living room. I appreciated the colorful accents and huge couch.
The bathroom was also huge with double sinks and a big tub. The toiletries were my favorite – Le Labo Rose 31. Le Labo bottles are made from 100 percent recycled water and soft drink bottles, and are themselves 100 percent recyclable. Oh, and they smell wonderful.
Still, the best part of the rooms might be their balconies:
Each room has a giant balcony overlooking the Fairmont grounds and the ocean. This is one of the prettiest hotels I’ve ever stayed at.
The balcony is the perfect place for a lazy room service breakfast enjoying the warm Hawaiian morning breeze.
The room service menu is full of your favorite classic breakfast foods, done beautifully. Not to be missed are the fresh fruit, chicken and waffles and eggs benedict.

Kō Restaurant Fairmont Kea Lani
We ate at Fairmont’s signature restaurant, Kō, on our last night in Maui. This was such a great way to end an amazing trip! Their food is amazing.
Kō has a large variety of dishes that will make everyone in your party happy. The menu focuses on farm-to-table ingredients and elevated takes on Hawaiian classics, particularly from the sugar cane era. We got a little of everything, from tofu curry to the catch of the day. All of it was exceptional.
You must try their Ahi On The Rock appetizer. Sashimi grade tuna is served with a hot stone and you get to sear the fish yourself.
If you’re looking for wine, their sommelier is amazing. Just make sure you leave room for their desserts, which are fabulous! If you aren’t staying at Fairmont, they offer a free car service to take you home.

Luana Restaurant Fairmont Maui
If you’re looking for a low-key dining option at Fairmont, check out Luana. It’s also a great place for happy hour before you head out to dinner. They have a light menu featuring appetizers, sushi and sharable plates, as well as an assortment of cocktails. The mushroom flatbread and pang pang shrimp were my favorite. They have a late night happy hour from 8-10 PM and live music from 7-10 PM on Friday & Saturday.
Luana is also a great spot to catch sunset with a cocktail.

Traditional Hawaiian Canoe Ride Fairmont Kea Lani
A really memorable and unique part of our trip was Fairmont Kea Lani’s Hawaiian Canoe Experience. The experience covers the basics of paddling, the history of the canoe and examples of native chants used when navigating the ocean.
We lucked out with warm weather and gentle seas (although I suspect this is the normal in paradise!). Our guide made a few stops and there would have been time for snorkeling if we had worn swim suits (lesson learned). Instead, he dove in and brought some sea treasures to the surface for us. My favorite was this red slate pencil sea urchin. Back when slates were still used, school children used to use the old dried spines as chalk.
Canoe rides are Monday through Friday morning. Make sure you reserve a spot in advance at the Concierge Desk. The experience is complimentary for hotel guests and will be a highlight of your stay.
