One of my favorite things to do at the end of a long work day is to go to the beach with Maddie and Pat to catch the sunset. I probably didn’t have to tell you that though, because Ocean Beach frequently pops up here on the blog. Even when the nights are cool, the sand stays warm for a few hours after sunset and the lighting. Talk about putting your best self forward.
This particular trip to the beach was after a quick sushi dinner at our favorite spot in the Outer Sunset. A silk maxi skirt may not be especially practical for beach-going, but this was a quick stop on the way home. Paired with a white tee and my favorite chambray shirt that I wear almost every other day, this look is one of those that you can wear almost anywhere, be it date night or running errands.
I’m going to wear my maxi skirts well into fall. I love a maxi skirt with a collared shirt or even a thick chunky sweater. I’ve even been known to wear thin black leggings underneath!
Outfit Deets :: Chambray Shirt – Ocean Layer // Maxi Skirt – Madewell (similar – on sale) // Tee – J. Crew – on sale // Loafers – J. Crew – on sale // Purse – Kate Spade // Sunnies – Ray-Ban Clubmaster // Bracelet – Thrifted (similar) // Earrings – Nasty Gal (similar) //
sushi + beach sunset + maxi dress…I’ll take ‘what my dreams are made of’ for 800, Pat.
Haha, I did a double take there, since the hubby’s name is Pat. Definitely a frequent date night for us being in the Outer Sunset!
With a thick chunky sweater!! SO my style.
I second Annie with the point situation… sounds like a pretty amazing date night after a long day at work. You never cease to impress with how much you can accomplish in a day!

I LOVE the idea of a thick sweater with a maxi! Definitely going to try that. I am definitely not impressive, I promise. My ‘To Do’ list is a mile long!
Great casual outfit!

Thanks so much Liz!
A co-worker at my last office showed up to work a few months ago in a maxi and flip flops and everyone said “Hey! Why are you dressing like Carla today?”
What I’m saying is: I FEEL YOU. 😉
Hahaha. Amazing! Props to you for have a signature style! 🙂

I need to know about this favorite sushi spot asap. Also, I need to steal this maxi skirt.
Ooo, I’ll take you there! It’s the perfect blend of budget, decent service and fresh fish! It’s perfect!
I never thought I’d be a fan of JCrew shoes – as of last night I bought my 4th pair of Anya Ballet Flats (the suede ones from the online JCrew Factory). A little overboard, maybe… and also somewhat impractical, but I just need to remember to not wear them in the rain.
I love the picture of you laughing, such a nice candid!!
I love J Crew! The ones I have in this photo are Italian leather – the smell of new leather! It’s definitely a luxury. There is nothing impractical about suede flats!
You look fabulous, Kelly! The pictures are gorgeous and I love the outfit!
