Valentine’s Day Style // Blush Pink + Maroon Denim

Valentine's Day Style :: Colored Jeans and Blush PinkI hear there’s a holiday coming up.

Someone mentioned something about love and I’ve been seeing all these pink desserts popping up!

Just kidding. You’d have to be living under a rock to not realize that Valentine’s Day is coming up! Coincidentally, blush pink is having a moment right now. I’ve had this Everlane silk blouse for a while and I wear it all the time. Look at me being so on trend right now! The reason I love this shirt so much though is that it’s one of those classic pieces that doesn’t follow trends. It’s chic and super high quality. I’ll be able to wear it forever.

So even though pink is super trendy right now, you won’t find me rushing out to buy a pink coat! I feel bad buying “trendy” pieces that will end up being donated or lost at the bottom of my closet in a few season. Talk about bad for the environment and bad for my wallet.

Instead I try to buy investment pieces that have a longer lifespan. Case in point – the Kate Spade bag in these photos. It’s probably been up on the blog at least a dozen times. I also adore the DL1961 denim jeans that I’m wearing. You saw them last a few weeks ago for a blogger brunch, but in truth I’ve been wearing them almost constantly (including on our recent San Francisco staycation)! The maroon just goes with everything. My last classic piece for this look? A WeWood watch. I think it’s basically in every outfit post I’ve ever done. I wear it every day.

Valentine's Day Style :: Fashion Trends + blush PinkI admit, every once in a while I break my own rule though. Usually, I try to buy trendy pieces that will soon be dated from stores that are less expensive, like H&M. I do so with a bit of guilt, knowing that I’m being wasteful. I try to wear those pieces frequently to make up for it. One that come to mind that I’ve recently purchased are a pair of (p)leather pants for $35.

There are also trends that I will just not follow. Spoiler alert, it’s most of them. High-low hemlines? Yech. Bucket bags? No way in heck. Feather vests? Thought about it for a second, then came to my senses.

Love LOVE this outfit! I seriously need some more Everlane items. (And super digging the pocket detail on the pants!)

I know! As far as I’m concerned Everlane can do no wrong. Everything they make I want to buy immediately!

Amazing! I used to have a pair of pants the same color a few years back but the quality didn’t seem to last as well as yours will! And good for you on the p(leather) pants buy…I have a pair and I love wearing them on date nights and going out with my girlfriends!

That sounds like where I wear them too. I have to admit I’m faking confidence when I wear them. It’s a little scary to try to rock leather pants!

I’m with you on buying investment pieces. It’s better to spend more on something you will wear years to come. I am in love with the WeWood watch. I can see why you would be wearing it everyday. . .it is so cool!

Pretty in pink! I’ve had this everlane shirt on my wishlist for awhile now – I love how classic it is. Question: does it have to be ironed much or does it stay silky and smooth?

You know, it doesn’t get wrinkly it all! I’ve had to dry clean it a couple times because I wear it so much! Definitely easy to care for and I highly recommend it!
