I didn’t have a single day off of work for the first three weeks of March. This meant that Pat’s early-March birthday passed without much fanfare. He’s really low key, and super understanding of my busy schedule, so he didn’t bat an eye that he didn’t even get a card from me on his birthday!
Little did he know, I had a Napa adventure planned for us on my weekend off. Even though it was two weeks after his birthday, it was still really special to surprise him and whisk him away on an adventure to wine country. I picked him up from work and we drove to St. Helena, where I had reserved this treehouse (!) for us to stay in through AirBnB.
The treehouse was the perfect place for us to stay – it was private and romantic and had great views of the valley behind the property. Much better than a budget hotel! It will be something we remember forever.
We had a much-needed lazy morning and then hit the road to Napa, where I had lunch reservations for us at the famous Morimoto Napa.
Lunch was a delicious and thoughtfully-prepared 5 course tasting menu. It was so good! The main entree was cod, and was super rich and buttery. They knocked it out of the park with a mango gelato for dessert.
Days off are few and far between for me these days, so this little surprise escape to wine country was the perfect way for me to remind my husband how special he really is to me. Happy birthday Pat!
