Recommendations for the best coffee shops in San Francisco. They all have high quality coffee and – almost as important – have great Instagram/photo opportunities!
One thing about living in San Francisco, is that my coffee game is strong. Without exaggerating, I can say that there is at least one coffee shop on every block. It’s awesome, and ensures that I am constantly (over) caffeinated.
Even though the list is long, there are definitely a few that I keep going back to, not in small part due to how photogenic each one is. Gotta keep my Instagram feed looking good! Looks aside though, all of these places have amazing coffee too!
My friend Ally is just getting into drinking coffee, so Ryan and I gave her the grand tour of my faves. We hit all four of these places in one day. Needless to say, we were pretty coffee-buzzed by the end of the day.
If you follow me on Snapchat (@ASideofSweet), you know that my friends at Grana sent over a package of goodies for us to wear for our adventure. I recently heard about Grana because they just opened a pop-up shop here in San Francisco in the Marina neighborhood. I love their company model – they ship direct from factory to consumer meaning they can produce super high quality clothing for wayyy less than you would usually pay. They make the sort of pieces that you would usually splurge, but with prices that make it possible to have one in every color!
I’m especially crazy about their silk. Crazy. I basically own every silk piece they make –Â some in multiple colors! Their cashmere is also incredible. It’s soft, lightweight and comes from Mongolian goats that produce the worlds best quality cashmere. Grana also has awesome denim too. It’s woven in a Japanese mill that has been making denim since 1893. They make those jeans that looks great as soon as you put them on, but that somehow manage to get even better with age. The best part? All of the things we’re wearing in this post cost under $100 dollars.
Provender in Potrero Hill
1415 18th St, San Francisco, CA 94107
Provender recently opened up a few blocks from our home and I couldn’t be happier! The place is absolutely lovely and in addition to having great coffee, they also have delicious small bites, like scones and avocado toast. You Instagram moment here is the ‘peek-through-the-window-shot’. That old fashioned window art is a perfect focal point as you sip your latte in the background.
Wrecking Ball Coffee Roasters in The Marina/Cow Hollow
2271 Union St, San Francisco, CA 94123
The infamous pineapple wallpaper is why many people seek this place out, but they stay for the friendly staff and their great coffee! Go ahead, get that selfie. No one will think you’re weird here. In fact, they have a framed collage of selfies that others have taken before you. Lift that hand up, straighten that arm and let your selfie flag fly!
Seriously though, this place is such a gem. I can’t say enough nice things about it. I actually left my wallet here the day we took the photo and they actually called my credit card company to notify me to come pick it up.
Jane on Fillmore in Pacific Heights
2123 Fillmore St, San Francisco, CA 94115
Not only does Jane have great coffee, it also has a full menu with tons of healthy soups, sandwiches and salads. Order the prettiest, most colorful things on the menu, arrange them on the black and white chevron tables and perfect that overhead shot!
Side note, did you notice that Ally turned her button down shirt into a skirt for this look!? You can find the DIY for this awesome style trick on her YouTube Channel.
Sightglass Coffee – The Mission
270 7th St, San Francisco, California 94103
Sightglass is the hipster darling of the San Francisco coffee scene. The employees are incredibly serious about their coffee. And seriously, their coffee is great! And serious. I still couldn’t resist putting it on the list though, because that ‘coffee’ tile in the entry is Instagram gold. Just ignore those side-eyes when you take that shoefie.

P.S. – Want to get the clothes we wore for yourself? We turned the following ten pieces into eight different outfits. Crazy, right!? Also, the silk pants + a matching silk top in any of the options make an awesome jumpsuit.
- Mongolian Cashmere Crew Sweater // 2. Silk Raglan Tee // 3. Silk Racerback Camisole // 4. Denim Boyfriend Shirt // 5. Silk Sleeveless Shirt // 6. Silk Racerback Trapeze Dress // 7. Pima Crew Neck T-Shirt // 8. Silk Racerback Trapeze Dress // 9. Denim Slim Jeans // 10. Silk Ankle Pants //
Thanks to Grana for providing the clothes for our adventure! And thanks to you for reading A Side of Sweet! It’s crazy to me to think that I have only been to San Fran ONCE for about 3 hours when I was 7, so I remember ZERO. Especially don’t remember coffee shops. I feel like at age 7, I didn’t even know what coffee was! LOL!
