My favorite stylish sneakers for travel, just in time for my trip to Japan! The perfect balance of style and comfort that will keep you looking great.
I announced on Instagram today that I’m headed to Japan next week! I’ll be spending 9 days in Okinawa and Tokyo. It’s my first time in Japan and I would love your recs on things to do, see and eat while I’m there! Hit me up in the comments below.
Inevitably packing for a trip makes me realize I don’t have quite the perfect (insert clothing item here) that I want for my adventure. This time, it was the perfect stylish sneakers for walking the busy streets of Tokyo. Comfort is a priority obviously, but because of the many shots I’ll be taking holding food, they sure as heck better look cool too!
In my research, here were the top contenders.
Stylish Sneakers for Travel
Proenza Shuler Sneakers – I was totally captured by the bold red and black straps on this pair. They would definitely look cool from overhead
Sam Edelman Velvet Sneakers – These are like the Hugh Hefners of sneakers. Burgundy crushed velvet is so cool!
Frye Slip On Sneakers – The best of boots in sneaker form!
Steven Cal Bow Sneakers – Presents for your feet!
Converse Dainty – Love this low profile version of the ultimate in classic stylish sneakers
Converse Tropical Print Sneakers – These didn’t make the cut for the edgy urban sneaker look I was looking for for this trip, but I did buy a pair for every day here in SF. Plus, on sale for $40, they won’t break the bank!
Minna Parika Bunny Sneakers – The cutest sneakers ever made, Minna Parika’s bunny sneakers come in a dozen variations from high tops to gold glitter.
Michael Kors Lennox Sneakers – These were the winners! If you’re braver than I am, there’s an all white version, but I settled on the more practical black ones.
Charlotte Olympia Cat Sneakers – More animals for your feet! Not just for kids.
P.S. – Looking for an easy way to keep your white sneakers white? Try a magic eraser!

You are SO LUCKY to be going to Japan! I lived there for a year and I loved it! When you go to Tokyo, you must go to the HaraJuku district. You will see the craziest fashion ever! Plus, there is great shopping! Get a sweet potato ice cream cone. Eat katsudon (fried pork cutlet over rice with onions, broth, and eggs)–my favorite! How long are you going to be there? Tokyo Disneyland is fun! Take the bullet train anywhere! Mt. Fuji is amazing (though not in Tokyo). If you have time, BE SURE to visit Kyoto and Nara! (Home of the famous golden temple, Kinkakuji!) Man, I could go on and on! Email me if you want more info!

Thank you so, SO much for these recommendations! I took a screen shot of this so I can have these with me! Unfortunately I won’t have time for Mt. Fuji this trip – with only three days in Tokyo I’m only going to scratch the surface!
