Bohemian Wedding 101

  • Facebook
  • Twitter

If you’re all about la vie boheme and you want to incorporate your unique tastes in your
most special day, then this bohemian wedding 101 is for you. Without a doubt,
bohemian weddings are one of the new trending wedding themes that more and more
engaged couples are embracing. But what do you need to think about when planning
the bohemian wedding of your dreams?

Here are a few things to keep in mind…

Location and Time of Day

To embrace the bohemian theme, you should choose a location that’s surrounded by
nature. In fact, natural elements and tones play an important role in maintaining this
wedding theme. For example, tall trees, a lake, and a green field all scream bohemian.
Having your wedding ceremony on top of a cliff overlooking the ocean is also
unconventional.

The bohemian wedding theme isn’t that particular when it comes to the time of day.
However, since you’re most likely having your wedding outside, you should schedule
the ceremony when the sun isn’t too high up so that you and your guests won’t suffer in
the heat. A sunset wedding is always gorgeous. But isn’t a sunrise wedding more
bohemian?

Decorations

When decorating the site of your ceremony, try to incorporate a lot of natural decor such
as a wooden arch, flowers, driftwood, and textiles made of natural fibers like burlap. For
the wedding party, you can have it inside a refurbished barn or an open field. Just
remember to maintain the bohemian theme in how you’ll set up the reception. A mix
among vintage, farmhouse, and industrial elements create a bohemian-inspired venue.
You can also put up fairy lights to add more charm and daintiness to the space, while
candles inside vintage lanterns add coziness and enchantment.

Wedding Dress

Boho wedding dresses are usually flowy and simple. They don’t hug the body too much
or have a lot of embellishments. However, don’t mistake simple for boring. You can still
add drama to the silhouette and the type of fabric you’re using.

If you’re working on a tight budget or schedule, you can always buy a bridal dress
online. Or you can use a gown that you found on the internet as a reference. Choosing
a simple dress, which is staying true to the bohemian theme, will help you save money
and time as well. You can always customize by making alterations or adding a few
accessories so that you can have the wedding dress that you’ve always dreamed about.

Wedding Party

There are a few ways you can make your wedding party more bohemian. Here are a
few ideas:

  • Have a naked cake decorated with edible flowers or fruits instead of a traditional
    white wedding cake.
  • Hire a folk band to play at your wedding.
  • Adorn your reception venue with a lot of flowers, lace, and fairy lights. You can
also add dream catchers and feathers to the space to make it more bohemian.

At the end of the day, a bohemian wedding should be unique, quaint, and
unconventional. Keep these traits in mind when you’re planning your wedding and don’t
be afraid to embrace the unusual.
