Eating Healthy in San Francisco

How to Take Great Instagram Food PhotosLet’s be serious, it’s not hard to find healthy restaurants in San Francisco. In fact, I think the bigger problem is choosing one! I wanted to share four healthy restaurants in San Francisco that I enjoy eating at. They have four different types of healthy food and are located in four different neighborhoods. You’ll find everything from smoothies to sushi, and my favorite – Mediterranean.

Something else awesome about these restaurants? You can get a discount on your food through Living Social’s new program, Restaurants Plus. They offer up to 30% discounts on hundreds (literally!) of San Francisco restaurants. All you have to do is register your credit card on the Restaurant’s Plus website. Any time you use that card at a Restaurant’s Plus site, you automatically get the discount.Living Social Restaurants Plus Discount Program Review

Any time I hear ‘awesome deals’, I immediately look for the catch. I promise, Restaurant’s Plus is catch-free. No apps to download, no punch cards to remember, no minimum purchase required. You basically have nothing to lose. Just register your card and forget about it. Any time you eat at one of the participating restaurants, you get your refund automatically. If you need inspiration, Living Social has all of the participating restaurants up on their website by cuisine category.

Here are some great healthy restaurant options in San Francisco! All have at least 10-30% cash back using your registered credit card.

Mediterranean food is super healthy, and something I crave on a regular basis. Located in Bernal Heights, it’s less than a mile from our house and they deliver. That means perfect hummus, pita and falafel goodness just a phone call away.

And their Greek salad? It has kale and avocados, which basically makes it the best thing ever. I’d put it in the top three salads I’ve had in San Francisco ever. Bernal Heights Restaurants - Melody Cafe Mediterranean

They are open all day, have free wifi and a full menu with everything from omelettes to musakaa. The food is fresh, delicious and an amazing value! It was the perfect place to get some of my blogger girlfriends together for brunch. You should definitely check out all of their blogs/Youtube Channels at The Violet Fog, Fashion By Ally, and Melissa DeMata photography.Best Healthy San Francisco Restaurants with great Vegetarian, Gluten Free, and Vegan OptionsBest Healthy San Francisco Restaurants with great Vegetarian, Gluten Free, and Vegan OptionsBernal Heights Restaurants - Melody Cafe Mediterranean

As with most of our brunches, there was lots of giggling and an equal amount of photo-taking. I feel like I need to do a post about how to take great food photos for Instagram. I have so many tips and tricks to share!

Sidewalk Juice is by far my favorite juice and smoothie place in San Francisco. This place is Instagram gold. They have healthy and colorful juices, smoothies, and – my favorite – acai and pitaya (dragonfruit) bowls. Their newest offering is The Twist – a mix of pitaya and acai. Beautiful and so good!

If you’re looking for healthy food in San Francisco, sushi is always a great option. There are dozens of places to eat sushi in San Francisco, with varying prices and fish quality. Yuubi in the Richmond has excellent sushi without the shocking price tag. They have everything from teriyaki to hand rolls and they won’t disappoint.

It doesn’t get healthier than Beautifull! in Laurel Heights. This deli-style restaurant has dozens of colorful salads, healthy protein options and even Onigiri (rice balls with healthy fillings). Their staff is friendly and happy to offer recommendations. The space is bright and sunny and they have free parking behind the restaurant. They also offer delivery and even have a weekly meal program you can set up.
