Review and photos of Lale Restaurant in the Inner Sunset San Francisco. Best Mediterranean food in the city and an amazing value! Also check out their brunch menu.
Mediterranean food is the ultimate comfort food. Unlike many of the comfort foods I indulge in, (cough, ice cream) it’s also good for you. All the indulgence without the guilt.
If you’re looking for a great Mediterranean restaurant in San Francisco, my favorite is LaLe restaurant in the Inner Sunset neighborhood.
Before I found LaLe, I’d had a run of disappointing Mediterranean food here in San Francisco. I’m not sure if it was bad luck or high standards, but nothing was right. Bland hummus, undersalted food, bone dry falafel. Totally lackluster.
LaLe is totally different. Every dish is perfect. Their falafel is honestly the best I’ve ever had. Perfectly crisp on the outside and soft on the inside.
I can’t their veggie burger – a brilliant purple color thanks to beets. It also has almonds and lentils. I promise you won’t miss the meat. Not Mediterranean, but still totally comforting and so unique.
The most surprising thing is that not only do they make incredible Mediterranean food, they also have an amazing brunch menu full of all of my favorite classics, like omelets and french toast.
Their ricotta stuffed french toast is insane.
Also on my must try list is their eggs benedict, but with a fun twist – instead of a bun they use a beet-mushroom – lentil patty. It’s a colorful and healthy upgrade.
LaLe has a menu packed full of amazing Mediterranean food and their own amazing takes on some of my American favorites. The food is a great value and the service is top notch.
