The Sequoia Bar in San Francisco’s Financial District is a trendy lounge with amazing decor and great cocktails, but there’s another reason you HAVE to check it out! Read on….
Cheers friends! Here’s a look at one of my favorite new bars in San Francisco, The Sequoia. Located in the Financial District, you may have walked by it a dozen times and without ever knowing it’s there.
Before I go on, here’s a quick video featuring The Sequoia and two of my other favorite San Francisco cocktail bars!
Have you heard of Wayfare Tavern? It’s one of the more famous restaurants in San Francisco thanks to its association with celebrity chef Tyler Florence. We love eating dinner there. Their take on comfort food with a hint of southern charm and British pub vibes never disappoints! The Sequoia is the newest addition to Wayfare Tavern, located on the 4th floor above the restaurant.
The decor at Wayfare is charming and interesting, but The Sequoia takes things to the next level. First, they hired Ken Falk who is also the genius behind my favorite Leo’s Oyster Bar. He chose leopard print carpets, tabletops made of old backgammon boards and a moody green and blue color palette for The Sequoia. It’s cozy and chic without being tacky.
Don’t forget to look up! The Sequoia has skylight views of San Francisco’s famous Transamerica building.
Many of their signature cocktails are inspired by famous bars around the world, like the Waldorf Astoria in New York and Harry’s New York Bar in Paris.
The Sequoia also has a small food menu, of which many dishes are shared with Wayfare Tavern. This is your chance to try their famous fried chicken, or one of their amazing deviled eggs with applewood smoked bacon, tarragon and a parmesan crisp.
The real treat though is the bank vault turned private lounge. It’s decorate to the nines, super cozy and that malachite wallpaper. Omg omg omg. So good!
Obviously with a small space that only seats 6, calling in advance for a reservation is essential if you want to check it out!
