One of the best things about our wedding if that all of my friends and family came together to bring all of my DIY wedding ideas to life. These decorated honey jars party favors were a last minute DIY after my dad, who is a beekeeper, surprised me with these mini honey jars with his own honey! He even created the cute/hilarious labels that say “Pat + Kelly, Meant to Bee” with our wedding date on them. Thanks Dad!
I racked my brain for ideas on decorating the honey jars. First, I tried covering them with burlap and tying it with twine, but it turned out to be a huge pain and didn’t really look that great. Then I considered decorating them with Washi tape, but I didn’t have a tape color that I liked.
Then my brain turned to crepe paper flowers. Paper flowers are everywhere on the interwebs and I had even purchased fancy Italian crepe paper with the intention of making giant paper flowers as wedding decorations (I abandoned this idea about 5 minutes into starting it as it was a really involved project – quitter!). I googled and pinterest-ed but couldn’t find a feasible design to do on such small jars with the materials I had on hand. I ended up creating this basic flower design
This project required all hands on deck, because even though it was simple enough, it still required cutting 300 petals out by hand. Thanks to Dad for the honey, Erica for bouncing ideas around with me, my new mother and sister-in-laws for the manpower and even Pat, who punched out all of the gold foil hearts!

Scissors
Glue
1. Cut out petals out of crepe paper. My flowers required seven petals per jar.
I cut one petal freehand with a narrower base and a wider round outer side.
2. Glue petals in a circle, one over the other. Let dry for about 2 minutes, then apply pressure throughout bases of petals to ensure that they lie flat. Let dry completely.
3. Punch small hearts out of crepe paper – I used gold foil.
4. Glue the punched hearts into center of crepe paper flower. Let dry.
5. Gently “fluff up” petals to give your flower a bit of dimension.
