Painted Wooden Coasters

Painted Wooden Coasters DIY for your HomeOh my goodness, Pat and I just got back from an amazing weekend in Napa at the Festival del Sole. I spent last week on night shift, which means we basically go the entire week on opposite schedules. After a week of barely seeing each other, it was so nice to reconnect. The festival was lovely! We had a full day of events starting with yoga, then taste of Napa and a beautiful concert followed by more food and wine. I can’t wait to share my photos with you! Our friends Sarah and Lucas also joined us. Hooray for wine country and friends!… Read More »

Fiesta Del Sole Napa

Fiesta Del Sole NapaPat and I had the most amazing Saturday in wine country last weekend at the Festival Del Sole. The festival is a 10 day celebration of art, music, food and of course, wine! We were lucky enough to be joined by our friends Sarah and Lucas as well. Fiesta Del Sole Napa… Read More »

Heirloom Tomato Tart Tatin

Heirloom Tomato Tart Tatin RecipeOne of the comments I get about being a pediatrician is, “I love kids, but I could never deal with the families!” Most of the time working with my patients’ families is one of the best parts of my job. Almost universally, parents really want to do what is best for their kids. They are such an important part of the healthcare team. There are so many times a mother has said, “he just doesn’t seem like himself” and it turns out their inkling is completely correct. Parental instinct is just as good as many of the lab tests that we use!

Veggie Pita Sandwiches & A Fancy Picnic

Vegetarian

Fancy Picnic Food - Veggie Pita SandwichesThere is nothing I love more than a good picnic. With the temperate weather here in Northern California, we can picnic year round! Pat and I have a secret picnic spot at Land’s End, which is a scenic cliff that overlooks the ocean on the westernmost part of the city. You can also see Golden Gate Bridge from Land’s End, if the fog isn’t too thick…. Read More »

Homemade Dog Treats

Homemade Dog Treats Recipe

When we adopted our Labrador puppy a year ago, I never could have imagined what an integral part of our little family she would become. Maddie is the best-behaved, most affectionate pupster we could have asked for and is always up for an adventure, be it a walk to the beach or a run in Golden Gate park. For Maddie, every day is the “best day ever”. I watch her unbridled joy for every experience and everyone she meets and it reminds me to have that mindset too.Homemade Dog Treats… Read More »

Salted Caramel Ice Cream

Salted Caramel Ice Cream Oh hey! Notice anything different around here? If you’ve been paying attention, you may have noticed that A Side of Sweet has a new look! I have been toying with the idea of updating my blog theme for quite some time. The free theme I was using hadn’t been updated in over two years and was slowly falling apart at the seams. In true Kelly form, some invisible trigger pushed me over the edge and I went for it over the weekend. No planning, no contingencies, just new theme, activate,  boom. The result was a new look maybe, but not the pretty, sleek look I had envisioned.
