San Francisco music festivals require a unique dress code to cope with our oft-talked about “microclimates”. Basically, the weather can go from gorgeous and sunny to bone-chilling cold in just a few hours. This means you need layers, layers, layers. I’ve taken to carrying black leggings in my purse any time I wear a dress. Once it gets chilly I can slip them on and avoid goosebumps that ruin my summer ready legs.
HowAboutWe + Vantigo San Francisco City Tour
With both of us working busy jobs, Pat and I really have to make it a priority to get out of the house when spending time together. Even if it’s just a walk to the beach to catch the sunset, it’s better than another night on the couch watching re-runs.
San Francisco has so much to offer we feel guilty when we don’t take full advantage of it. Sometimes though, the hurdle of organizing things keeps us from getting out of our routine. It’s hard to take that extra effort when we’re stressed and tired.
HowAboutWe is the perfect way to clear away those last lingering excuses. The company organizes fun local dates for everything from dessert tastings to DJ lessons!
Healthy Lentil Walnut Pâté

I’ve been reading the GOOP newsletters since their inception, well before Gwyneth rocked the interwebs with her conscious uncoupling. I’m always so excited to read them as they serve as a peek into a life that I just will never experience, which is just fine with me.
I have a pretty amazing life full of work, travel, friendship, and delicious food, but let’s face it, it’s just not on the GOOP level. Jet-set getaways to Singapore, living room makeovers by the hottest designers complete with $10,000 couches, and a toned body that most twenty-year-olds would be jealous of – not in my future.
Friday Faves // 09

This weekend Pat and I are headed to Chicago to see my beautiful sister-in-law get married! It’s going to be so nice to catch up with family and friends. I love weddings! You can catch pics from our trip back to the Midwest in real time on Instagram.
This also marks the end of my first year of residency. I look back and I can’t even believe how much I’ve grown in the past year. I’m looking forward to the upcoming year because we have more responsibility and the patients are more complicated. I start out with two months of pediatric oncology patients, which should be intense and challenging.
Easy DIY Elastic Hair Ties

The secret behind this easy DIY is finding the right supplies. I didn’t find elastic that I liked at my local craft store, so I took my search to the internet. I found exactly what I was looking for on Amazon. And dang it was so cheap! I went crazy and bought a yard of each color, which basically left me with a lifetime supply of elastic hair ties.
Chocolate Chunk Blue Cheese Ice Cream
You guys, today’s recipe is going to blow.your.mind. I really, really love the idea of blurring the lines between savory and sweet with recipes, especially dessert.
Recently, I’ve been doing some recipe development projects on the side. I absolutely love creating recipes and just finished a big project with the folks at Salemville Blue Cheese. All of Salemville’s cheeses are sustainably produced by an Amish community in Cambria, Wisconsin. Cows are hand-milked twice daily without the use of machines or electricity and milk is delivered to the factory in traditional 10-gallon milk cans! … Read More »
