Marbleized white chocolate dipped unicorn Oreos are the perfect party favor. Includes a video tutorial on how to make chocolate covered Oreos using candy molds.
My unicorn toast got such a great response I had to give one of my favorite guilty pleasures, white chocolate-dipped Oreos, the unicorn food treatment. I didn’t think it was possible to top the unicorn toast, but I think I might have done it! In addition to dipped Oreos, I also made white chocolate covered Oreos using a chocolate mold!

How to Make Unicorn Oreos
It took a few tries to get the technique right, but I’m absolutely in love with the results. It takes special candy & chocolate food coloring to color the white chocolate candy melts. Food paint made with liquid or gel food coloring like I use for my painted sugar cookies won’t work here.
When mixed into white chocolate, the candy food coloring gives beautiful pastel colors that are perfect for a unicorn themed party. They’re so fun to eat and equally fun to make.
Tips for Marbleizing White Chocolate
- If the candy melts are too thick when melted, use a little vegetable shortening or coconut oil to thin it.
- Make sure you use complementary colors so when they don’t turn brown when mixed together. I tried red and green to make Christmas Oreos and it was a disaster! Streaks of red and greenish-brown. So bad.
- Use the candy coloring sparingly. In my first attempt, I used way too much coloring and it dyed my teeth.
Dipped White Chocolate Oreos
The first technique is hand-dipped white chocolate Oreos. This technique results in a partially covered Oreo, but it doesn’t require the purchase of special molds. Each one is completely unique.
White Chocolate Covered Oreos Using Molds
This technique requires the purchase of a plastic chocolate mold. Spoon marbleized chocolate into the mold and press the Oreo into the chocolate. Luckily, this doesn’t disrupt the marbleization pattern. It’s important to make sure the white chocolate doesn’t overlap the edges of the mold or you will have rough edges on your Oreo when you remove it from the mold. Wipe off any excess chocolate before the Oreo hardens. The more level the chocolate is, the flatter the underside of the covered Oreo will be.
Decorating Oreos with Gold Leaf & Edible Gold Paint
I added edible gold leaf and edible gold paint to the Oreos and it looks awesome! That being said, it’s completely optional. Edible gold leaf isn’t cheap but a tiny bit goes a long way and having a few leaves on hand gives so many options for taking your creations to the next level.

Notes
Because of the waxy surface of the chocolate, this recipe will only work if it is exceptionally thick and you use a “splatter paint” technique. If you try to paint it on, the paint will bead and not look right. To get the look you see in the photos, the consistency of the gold paint should be almost paste-like.
