OOTD :: Pretty Relaxed

Styling Casual Jeans // San Francisco Style & Beauty Blogger

I had the chance to work with Nathalie Bize, a San Francisco fashion photographer to capture my fall uniform. Spoiler alert – nothing fancy here. I’ve been living in these super-soft relaxed-fit grey jeans and a rotation of blousy loose fitting shirts…. Read More »

Prosser Hot Air Balloon Festival

Hot Air Balloon Photography Photos
Prosser, Washington is a tiny town (population less than 6,000) but it has a lot of pride. According to our hosts, Boo and Mikella, they have a multitude of festivals as well as some great wine tasting rooms. Somehow the stars aligned and Holly and I managed to catch the best festival of them all on our recent Red Mountain wine country trip.

The Prosser Hot Air Ballon was amazing. Magical. Pretty much a photography wonderland. I want to blow up all of the photos and put them on every wall in our house.

San Francisco Fun // Morning Gloryville

Fun things in San Francisco - Morning Gloryville RaveI admit, I can be a creature of habit. I have my routines and most of the time that’s ok. Sometimes I need a reminder to push myself out of my comfort zone.

I unwittingly had an out-of-my-comfort-zone experience a few days ago when I attended the Morning Gloryville ‘wellness rave’. I had a busy week, so I didn’t do much looking into what to expect for the morning. I just knew there would be yoga, massages and dancing, so I had no question it would be a good time.

Cocktail Idea :: Tuaca Mule

Try a variation on the popular cocktail the Moscow Mule with this Tuaca Mule recipe. With just three ingredients, it’s easy to make and fun to drink!Creative Cocktail Ideas - Tuaca Mule (a variation of the Moscow Mule)

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of TUACA Vanilla Citrus Liqueur for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.

When did Moscow mules get so trendy? Mule mugs went from a “what is that funny cup?” to a staple on every bar cart in about 2.5 seconds flat. While I love a good mule, sometimes it’s fun to switch it up. I love this fun variation on the Moscow mule featuring Tuaca liqueur! It makes the mule cocktail sweeter and lighter.  Bonus – when you serve it, you’ll be setting the trend instead of following it.

Everyone I have served the Tuaca Mule to has raved about it and asked for the recipe! Luckily it’s super easy to whip up and requires just three ingredients. … Read More »

Life Lately

Spread the Joy - Juju Sprinkles

Is it me, or are we already in the middle of the holiday rush? I’m not talking about the holiday decorations in stores, but more that subtle internal feeling of internal anxiety to cook with pumpkin spice and to start thinking about holiday gifts (or gift guides if you’re a blogger). If you’re a blogger, my guess is you’re probably feeling the pressure.

One of the personal challenges I have as a blogger is bring you timely seasonal content. I started getting emails in August from blogging newsletters that I subscribe to encouraging me to ‘think about pumpkin spice’ and telling me that ‘chocolate peppermint drinks are starting to trend on Pinterest.” I mean, here it is almost Halloween and there hasn’t been even a whiff of pumpkin to be found at Casa Sweet. No wonder I’m feeling the pressure I guess.

Tell me, if you’re a blogger, how do you deal with the challenge to keep things seasonal? If you don’t blog, do you expect to find seasonally-inspired recipes on your favorite blogs?

Here are a few of my favorite posts that I’ve shared lately…

I recently had the chance to visit Eastern Washington wine country. I’m just started to share my adventures from that trip.

This DIY photobooth backdrop is so colorful and the .gif in the post is one of my favorite of all time.

I still have all of these succulent centerpieces scattered around the house. They turned out so well and every time I look at them they make me smile.

I shared one of my top-secret Instagram tips for ‘scheduling’ your Instagram posts in advance.

Oh, I’ve been popping up other places around the internet too:

My party balloon centerpiece was published on Martha Stewart (!)

I was named an ‘San Francisco Foodie to Follow‘ by local online mag, The Bold Italic

I shared my favorite place for brunch in San Francisco on The Violet Fog

I shared my moment of joy on the gorgeous blog Juju Sprinkles. She also designed the pretty graphic at the top of this post…. Read More »

Carrot Hummus & Root Vegetable Chips

Gluten FreeDairy FreeNut FreeVegetarianVegan

Probably the healthiest appetizer (or snack) recipe on the planet – roasted carrot hummus with root vegetable chips. It’s also vegan and gluten-free!

Healthy Vegan Carrot Hummus Recipe with Raw Root Vegetable Chips

Chef Joanne Weir is a culinary legend. She has accolades that include cookbook author (authored or contributed to almost 20 books), restaurant owner (Copita in Sausalito), TV Chef (Joanne Weir Gets Fresh on PBS), and international culinary tour guide. She also spent five years cooking at Chez Panisse in Berkeley. That’s why I was surprised to get an invitation to dine in Joanne’s San Francisco home. The occasion was a celebration of her new cookbook, Kitchen Gypsy.

Kitchen Gypsy is less a collection of recipes and more a journal that details Joanne’s dearest memories. Joanne is a born storyteller and I found myself eagerly flipping through every page of her cookbook in anticipation of our dinner. In person, Joanne’s stories came to life. As she cooked, she told us the story of each recipe. It was an incredibly special experience.
