Recipe Update :: Kimchi Fried Rice

Lightened Up Kimchi Fried Rice Recipe! My recipe for lightened up kimchi fried rice was one of the first recipes I ever posted on A Side of Sweet (at that time it was called Running Blonde). Although it was delicious, my food photography skills at the time were definitely beginner level.

As a part of the Food Bloggers Central blog hop, Bobbi from Bam’s Kitchen gave my kimchi fried rice a much-needed update! You might remember me mentioning the Blog Hop recently during this 5 Ingredient Baked Egg Boats post. Bobbi is an amazing food blogger based in Hong Kong. She shares tons of healthy international cuisine recipes. You should definitely check her out!… Read More »

My Casual Weekend Style

Minimalist Aesthetic - Wearing shades of grey and black So two casual outfit looks in a row makes it a thing right? I told you in my last style post that I was digging casual neutrals these days! Everything about this outfit screams comfort – boyfriend jeans, a soft over-washed tee shirt, and loafers. They are also pieces that I’ve had on hand for a while, just polished up with a new statement necklace. The accessories are what keeps things chic and not too casual…. Read More »

Healthy Spinach Dip Endive Appetizers

Vegetarian

Must Make :: Healthy Spinach Endive Appetizers!

For me, part of being healthy is being balanced. For every slice of pie, there has to be a balance, whether that is a date with the treadmill or cutting out snacks for a few days after. When the balance is off is when we find ourselves avoiding mirrors and reaching for a baggy sweater. It’s a feeling I know all too well, especially with the weather getting warmer and those pasty legs getting ready to see the sunlight again!

I feel like I’m still in a pretty good place fitness-wise after starting The Dailey Method and I don’t want to undo all my hard work!… Read More »

Blonde Hair Care Tips

Best Products for Blonde Hair - Do a home gloss! This post is for my fellow blondes, although you’ll find healthy hair tips for any hair color sprinkled throughout. Although I’m naturally dark blonde, I’ve been coloring my hair to be blonder since high school! I just wanted to share a few blonde hair care tips I’ve learned along the way – including my favorite shampoo and ways to fight the brassiness that discolors hair.

I also want to talk about doing a hair gloss at home. Have you ever had a hair gloss at your stylist? Hair gloss, or glaze, repairs hair damage, is less harsh than hair dye, and provides intense shine and conditioning. Thanks to the wonders of the internet, you can buy hair gloss supplies easily on Amazon and save yourself a ton of money!

See my tips after the jump!… Read More »

Spring Trends :: Dressing Up a Sweatshirt

Styling tips for a dressing up a sweatshirt

I’ve noticed a shift in my style lately. I’m turning more and more to classic, casual pieces even for occasions I’d normally dress up for. Cozy, neutral classics are my new uniform. I suppose if I had to read something into it, the change is for a couple of reasons.

One, my work schedule has been particularly crazy. I’m working in the pediatric emergency department this month and our shifts begin and end at all sorts of odd hours. Switching from a 6pm to 3am shift to a 7am to 5pm shift makes the days and nights blur together. As if that isn’t enough, every four to five days I work a 24 hour shift. The life of a resident.

I’m definitely craving comfort when I’m not at work.
