Perfect Lemon Macarons Recipe - Lemon Buttercream Filling

French macarons are the best. They are light, perfectly sweet, and so fancy! Macarons are also gluten-free and a great dessert that can be made in advance. The shells freeze for weeks and, once filled, the macarons can be kept in the fridge for a few days.

Raspberry French Macarons Recipe with Raspberry Buttercream Filling
These French macarons are proof that gold makes everything better, particularly edible gold paint. Ever since my first successful batch, I’ve been making macarons like crazy! These darling pale pink ones with raspberry filling were a hit at a recent Galentine’s day fête that I hosted. Adding hearts with edible gold paint only took a few extra minutes and added a really special touch.

Best Lavender Macarons

This fall, I was tasked with making macarons for a 200+ person wedding for some of our closest friends. As soon as I started, I regretted committing to the project! Making 500 macarons in an apartment kitchen is a fool’s errand.

Splatter Painted French Macarons

Use edible food paint to make these colorful splatter-painted French Macarons! Plus, a step by step recipe for plain french macaron shells.

Splatter Painted French Macarons DIY with Plain Macaron Shells Recipe

Painting macarons, or sugar cookies or cakes, for that matter is so easy! All you need is some high-quality food coloring gel, a food-safe paintbrush, and a bit of vodka or almond extract.

I probably should have inserted some sort of joke here about drinking vodka to reduce the stress of making macarons, but it’s actually for your paint! It’s the perfect solvent for your gel food coloring. It evaporates when it dries and leaves no taste or unwanted color behind…. Read More »

French Macarons with Easy Green Tea Buttercream

Perfect green tea french macarons. They are filled with a fool proof green tea buttercream frosting made with dissolvable green tea. So easy it should be illegal!
Green Tea French Macarons with Easy Green Tea Buttercream Filling Recipe!

They were either cracked, or didn’t have feet (that perfect little less smooth part on the edge). It makes me appreciate why it often costs several dollars per macaron when you buy them in stores.

Ironically, one of my most popular blog recipes is for french macarons. These splatter painted french macarons have been pinned almost 10,000 times and bring a steady stream of traffic here to A Side of Sweet. If you look closely though, there is not a foot (feet?) to be found. The are completely flat…. Read More »

Fact – french macarons are delicious. They are also finicky little buggers. I’ve tried to make them a handful of times and every time I swear I’ll never do it again!
